The primary ballot continues to grow in Sibley County.  A total of six county commissioner candidates were added this past week as the filing period winds down.  For more on the commissioner and Sibley County Sheriff races, see the June 4th edition of The Gaylord Hub.

Four individuals were recognized with Certificates of Continuous Membership at Gaylord’s Memorial Day Ceremony.  Waldo Reckdahl, William Otto and Donald Marth were all recognized for being Legion Post members for 50 years.  Marlene Kloeckl was recognized for 65 years of continuous membership to the Legion Auxiliary.

Theater students from Sibley East and GFW will present The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon this weekend at the Sibley East Middle School/High School auditorium in Arlington.  Show times are Friday and Saturday (7:00 p.m.) and Sunday (2:00 p.m.).

Jocelyn DeVlaeminck’s design was named the winner in the 2026 Eggstravaganza Button Design Contest.  This year’s Eggstravaganza, Gaylord’s annual summer celebration, will highlight Fire Department and Gaylord Library anniversaries.  For more on this year’s event, see the April 16th edition of The Gaylord Hub.

Dancing Like The Stars proved to be another spectacular success, this year raising more than $560,000 for 2B Continued’s mission to increase awareness of suicide prevention.  Sibley County Administrator Marilee Peterson and her husband Daryl were Grand Champions in the dance competition and they finished first in Pre-Event Fundraising (raising more than $81,000).  In recognition…

Sibley East will be running a bond referendum in August to determine the fate of the district’s indoor pool. The board is also considering running another operating referendum this fall.  For more details, see the April 16th issue of The Gaylord Hub.

With a hotel developer showing some interest in Gaylord, the city council has agreed to seek quotes for a Hotel Market Study.  For more details, see the April 16th edition of The Gaylord Hub.

The upper midwest was reminded it’s still winter as snow and high winds roared through many states this past weekend, including Minnesota.  Nearly ten inches of snow fell in Gaylord and it was accompanied by high winds.

The Lake Titlow dam is scheduled to be replaced within the next couple of years.  Sibley County Board of Commissioners recently agreed to a Letter of Support for the project as the City of Gaylord seeks federal funding.  For more details on the project, see the March 19th Gaylord Hub.
