Islanders to begin post season play

Gaylord’s Islanders will begin the River Valley League playoffs at Le Sueur on Wednesday, July 24th.  The two teams will play a best-of-three series to determine who advances to the Region 6C Tournament.  Game two will be in Gaylord on Friday (7:30 p.m.), then back to Le Sueur on Sunday (6:00 p.m.) for a game…

Rodning claimed by Houston Astros

Gaylord baseballer Brody Rodning was claimed by the Houston Astros on Friday, June 14th.  He was on a flight to Houston two days later and then to the team’s High A affiliate in Asheville, North Carolina.

Wolverine boys get big win

Propelled by senior guard Joe Ballalatak, Sibley East’s boys’ basketball team came back to beat Norwood Young America 60-57 Monday night in Arlington.  Ballalatak scored 24 second half points for the Wolverines.

Sibley East’s girls’ basketball team netted one of their best wins of the season so far.  The Lady Wolverines overcame a late deficit to defeat Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 68-63 at Arlington.
