Sibley East’s baseball team had its season end Monday with a 7-1 loss to Cannon Falls in Section 2AA play at Gaylord’s Walsh Field.  The Wolverines finish with a 17-7 record and advanced further in the post season than any Sibley East baseball team since 1998 (the year Sibley East won a state title).  Cannon…

Burdorf breaks SE shot put record

Sibley East senior Jackson Burdorf broke the school shot put record at last week’s sub-section meet.  Burdorf’s heave of 51′-3-3/4″ broke the previous school mark set by Paul Utendorfer in 1999.  Burdorf is pictured with Sibley East throwers coach Mark Vrklan, who also coached Utendorfer.

Six Sibley East relay teams (4 boys, 2 girls), four throwers and a few other Wolverines are advancing to the Section track meet which will be held Saturday, Jun 12th at Mankato West.  The Wolverines qualified with top finishes Thursday in the sub-section meet at Le Sueur.

Baseball team blanks NRHEG

It was another blowout win for Sibley East’s baseballers Tuesday.  The Wolverines blanked New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 8-0 in the second round of the section tournament.  Head coach Dan Hoefs said pitcher Brody Serbus was in control the entire game.  Sam Ebert led the Wolverines offensively with four RBI’s.  The victory sets up a clash with top…

Syd Schott, a 2019 graduate of Sibley East, is making her mark in the college softball ranks.  Schott, a standout pitcher and hitter, led North Dakota School of Science to a regional championship last week.  She was named MVP of that tournament which was held in Cambridge, MN.  Schott and the Wildcats are playing in…

Dose named to All-Star Team

Sibley East senior baseballer Caleb Dose has been selected to play in the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series to be held June 25th and 26th at Chaska.  Sibley East head baseball coach Dan Hoefs, a Gaylord High School graduate, played in the state’s first all-star series held in 1975.

State True Team Qualifier

Sibley East’s boys’ track team, last week, qualified for the State True Team by winning Section 2A in a virtual competition.  The Wolverines finished with 663 points, 28 better than runnerup LCWM-Nicollet.   A dozen teams competed in the virtual section meet, using results from a regular season competition.
