Football team to play at NYA

Sibley East’s football team will try to even out its win-loss record Friday at Norwood Young America.  The Wolverines opened the season with a decisive win over Belle Plaine, but has since lost to Tai-City United and Pipestone.  For more on the Wolverine grinders, see this week’s edition.

Practice burn

Gaylord and Winthrop firefighters conducted a training here Saturday, razing a dilapidated apartment complex on Sixth Street/Hwy. 22.  The complex once served as housing for WWII Veterans and their families.

Overnight storm

Cleanup crews were busy Friday morning as an overnight storm packed high winds and a bit of rain.  Most tree damage in town appeared to be confined to the city park area.  There was also a report of a grain bin collapsing south of Gaylord due to the high winds.

New business to employ 150

The Sibley County Board of Commissioners, on Tuesday,  unanimously approved a tax abatement estimated to be $433,740 over 15 years for a project to re-use the former Seneca property in Arlington. The buildings will house a 45-year old company, Data Metalcraft, Inc. and Deliver Safe, Inc. It is estimated the businesses will employ 150 people by 2025.…
