Ceremony for Disposal of Unserviceable Flags

Manthey-Asmus Legion Post of Gaylord is holding a flag disposal ceremony on Flag Day. The event is planned for Monday, June 14th at 6 p.m. at the veterans’ memorial in the city park.
The public is invited to attend. Unserviceable (worn) flags may be brought for the ceremony. In case of rain, the event will be postponed.
The Ceremony for Disposal of Unserviceable Flags is outlined in Resolution No. 440, passed by the 19th National Convention of The American Legion in New York, Sept. 20-23, 1937. The ceremony has been an integral part of American Legion ritual since that date.
