Sibley East senior baseballer Caleb Dose has been selected to play in the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series to be held June 25th and 26th at Chaska.  Sibley East head baseball coach Dan Hoefs, a Gaylord High School graduate, played in the state’s first all-star series held in 1975.

Sibley East’s boys’ track team, last week, qualified for the State True Team by winning Section 2A in a virtual competition.  The Wolverines finished with 663 points, 28 better than runnerup LCWM-Nicollet.   A dozen teams competed in the virtual section meet, using results from a regular season competition.

It was a fantastic Friday for Gaylord native Matt Magers.  The Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU) baseball coach recorded win #500 as his Mavericks upended the visiting University of Sioux Falls 10-6. A well played high school baseball game Tuesday went in favor of Glencoe-Silver.  The Panthers edged Sibley East’s Wolverines 2-1 at Gaylord’s Walsh Field.

A three game week for Sibley East’s softball team is being capped by a non-conference tilt at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Friday.  For recaps of all three contests, see our May 13th edition.

Gaylord’s Brody Rodning pitched two scoreless innings Tuesday in his AA minor league debut for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.  Rodning pitched in the sixth and seventh innings.  In seven batters faced, the left-hander struck out one, allowed one hit, and walked one.  Rodning’s appearance was part of an 11-2 New Hampshire win over Portland.

Sibley East’s baseballers cranked out 14 hits Monday in a 9-3 win at Norwood Young America.  Aaron Flieth and Sam Ebert led the Wolverines with two hits apiece.
