Islanders in good playoff position

Gaylord’s Islanders will likely finish second to Jordan in the River Valley League standings.  The Islanders are also tabbed for a four seed in Region 6C.  That could lead to home playoff games in round one and two of the the tourney.  For more information, see the July 22nd issue of The Hub.

Sibley East’s American Legion Baseball Team, now 10-0, is one of the top seeds for the district tournament which is being played in Arlington and Green Isle over the next two weekends.

Islanders crank up offense

Gaylord’s amateur baseballers recorded a total of 35 hits in wins over St. Clair and Arlington last week.  The Islanders have won 7 of their last 8 games.  They will host Le Sueur on Friday.  Many pre-game events are planned for Friday.  See the July 15th issue of The Hub for more information.

Islanders upend Arlington A’s 5-1

Five runs and five straight wins.  That was the case for Gaylord’s amateur baseballers Friday as they won their fifth straight with a 5-1 victory over visiting Arlington.  Gaylord’s Islanders will play at Belle Plaine on Wednesday (7:30).

Legion baseballers now 5-0

Sibley East’s American Legion baseball team remained unbeaten on the season after sweeping Lester Prairie on Thursday.  The Wolverines were scheduled to host Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Monday….due to rain that tilt was postponed and Sibley East will play a doubleheader on this Thursday.  For more on Legion baseball, see our July 1st edition.
