The City of Winthrop expressed its appreciation to Gaylord for offering police officer training this past year.  An agreement between the two cities came to an end earlier this month.  For more, see the October 13th Hub.

Sibley East school board members and the Arlington City Council recently met to discuss the future of the school pool.  A week after that meeting, the Arlington City Council approved a $20,000 contribution to the pool for 2023.  For more, see the October 13th issue of The Gaylord Hub.

Persistent dry weather and a couple of fires in soybean fields led Sibley County Sheriff’s Office to issue a burning ban on Monday, October 10th.

The death of rural Winthrop man Dennis Weitzenkamp, on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 20th, has been ruled a homicide. It was mid-afternoon on Tuesday when the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office received a call about an unresponsive person at a rural farm site about one mile north of the City of Winthrop (Transit Township).   …
