Flag disposal ceremony
The Manthey-Asmus Legion Post held its annual flag disposal ceremony last Monday in the city park. It took approximately one hour to properly dispose of the flags. Area residents are encouraged to drop off unserviceable (worn) flags at the Gaylord Legion club. The club also has new flags for sale.

Long-time Sibley East Elementary Principal Mari Lu Martens is retiring at the end of this month. A native of Gaylord, Martens worked as a long-term substitute in third grade and helped with music classes at GFW prior to working at Gaylord and eventually, Sibley East Schools.

Gaylord’s City Council, at its June 2nd meeting, approved granting Conditional Use Permit (CUP) extensions for two solar projects. Sunrise Energy Ventures is planning to construct two solar panel fields directly south of Gaylord. One would be on the east side of State Highway 22 and the other would be on the west side.
