Florence Petzel – 94

Florence Petzel, age 94 of Arlington passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Golden Hearts Assisted Living in Arlington. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15th at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington with visitation continuing one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery. Florence was born on April 12, 1927 in Arlington Township to Theodore and Louise (Witte) Sickmann. Florence was baptized on May 1, 1927, confirmed on May 18, 1941 and received her education all at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School.
After having various jobs during her young adult life, she married Milo Petzel on June 28, 1950 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Arlington. The couple farmed in Kelso Township for 38 years before moving to Arlington in 1988. On November 1, 2013 Florence moved to Golden Hearts Assisted Living where she resided until her passing.
During life, besides working on the farm with Milo and raising her family, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, caning, sewing, playing cards and traveling her later years, visiting relatives and enjoying the grandkids and great grandkids. Florence was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She always made time to attend church and belonged to the Ladies Aid and various volunteer jobs. Florence led a life of self-sacrifice.
Florence is survived by her children and grandchildren, Daryl (Paula) Petzel, Curt Petzel (sp. friend Christine Cavanaugh), Kyle (Krista) Petzel, Tim (Tamra) Petzel, Jesse Guerrero and Brianna Guerrero; Marlin (Tammy) Petzel, Tyler (Andrea) Petzel, and Makenzie (Eddie) Putzier; Randy (Judy) Petzel, Ben (Allison) Petzel, Zach Petzel (fiancée Katie Muckerheide), and Jordan Petzel; Sharon (Steve) Ritter, Andrew Ritter, Jacob Ritter, and Nathan Ritter; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Berdina Petzel, Lorraine Rucks, Mayona Lind; sister-in-law, Irene Sickmann; many nieces and nephews.
Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Milo Petzel; son, Craig Petzel; parents, Theodore and Louise Sickmann; parents-in-law Andy and Louisa Petzel; siblings, three brothers in infancy and Eldred Sickmann and Merrill Sickmann; and in-laws,Violet Sickmann, Bernard Rucks, John Lind, Earl and Doris Petzel, LeRoy Petzel, Lorenz and Bernice Grewe.
