Smoke could be seen from miles away Friday night from two Sibley County grass fires.  The picture attached to this post was taken east of county road 9 and north of county road 15 (approximately six miles north of Arlington).  Another grass fire was burning at the same time near Henderson.

Gaylord’s Fire Department responded to the Sibley County Services Building Friday after a report of a possible gas lead.  Fire Chief Justen Rose said firefighters were not on the scene very long and Centerpoint Energy was notified.

It was car fire training night last Monday for Gaylord’s firefighters. From pulling up to a scene to extinguishing a blaze, firefighters were trained on how to most effectively deal with the situation. Self-contained breathing apparatus training is planned for Gaylord’s Fire Department later this month.

Gaylord’s newest part-time police officer is Morgan Attenberger. She is a graduate of Sibley East and St. Cloud State University. Attenberger, who is from Gaylord, was hired by the City last month.

The City of Gaylord’s wastewater ponds, and its operator Robert Kloeckl, were recently featured in a case study which highlighted successful management practices.  More details will be published in our May 13th edition.
